Now THAT'S more like it! The Raps snapped that ugly seven-game slide Sunday, showing more "pep in their step" (as Jack Armstrong would say) than they have in weeks! Just to keep things on the Letterman, here's a top ten list of things I really loved from yesterday's big 110-87 win over the Pacers. 1. Thankfully, Shawn Marion still serves Sunday brunch after 2 p.m. Danny Granger the victim of a game-changer!! http://www.nba.com/raptors/news/recap_031509.html 2. Andrea Bargnani. Pacers elected to give him all the space he wanted for his jumper and he made them pay to the tune of 27 points with nine rebounds and four dimes. How is this guy not garnering more consideration for the league's Most Improved Player? 3. Pops goes the newest local hero. One game removed from a costly late gaffe, Pops Mensah-Bonsu pours in a career-high 21 points, attacks the rim like it owes him lunch money and earns a standing O from a great crowd post-game. Inking this guy to an extension as an energizer of the bench is a must IMO. 4. Jose Calderon: Redux. The plucky Spaniard says he's about as healthy as he's been in a while and it's showed the last two games. The offensive numbers have been mighty healthy, but I've loved his defensive tenacity. Raps are a very different team when he gets going like this. 5. Chris Bosh smiling. Haven't seen it much of late. Great work on the boards even if the scoring was there. 6. An actual comeback. This one was a rare blowout, but making it even more impressive was the fact that this team trailed by as many as eight points in the second quarter. Not a huge hill to climb, still nice to see them do it. 7. Rebounding. Great effort against the second-best rebounding team in the league. Toronto wins the battle of the boards 55-38 and hauls in 18 offensive rebounds to just nine for Indiana. That's leads to.... 8. Points in the Paint. Usually another Achilles Heel for the Raps, they crush the Pacers in the lane 48-28. 9. The Sked Ahead. OK technically, not part of Sunday's game. But the win kicks off the most favourable part of the calendar for the Raps all season. They've got: @CHA, CHA, LAC, MIL, OKC and CHI to round out March. If they play the way the did on Sunday, is five wins out of that group out of the question? 10. Blowouts=rest. Love the fact that Bosh, Marion, Calderon all logged less minutes in yesterday's blowout. Hopefully, that pays dividends in CHA tonight. Let's go get it! J.

So... we're heading into a weekend with games against the Detroit Pistons and Indiana Pacers... It's been what, six-straight losses? So believe it or not, I'm feeling good about tonight. The expression "due" comes to mind. But I think the PIstons are a team that's prone to playing down to their opponents and taking teams lightly. They didn't use to be that way, but these aren't the Pistons of five years ago. Deeetroit Basketball just ain't what it use to be. So, it's time to play for pride. These guys will be at home, know the fans are probably even more frustrated that they are and should be damn serious about playing at their absolute best tonight. I hope....

Well, this road trip isn't going according to plan... Although, I guess it is for the Suns and Mavs... And ouch! You read Shaq's comments on Chris Bosh? RuPaul of Big Men... I can think of a few celebrities I'd rather be compared to if I was a power forward...
So we'll look to get it back on track Tuesday in Houston and here's to hoping CB continues to show up dressed in men's clothing...

The Raptors tried to put on their track shoes with the undermanned Suns last night and instead got a healthy dose of Shaq's size 23's in a 133-113 thumping in Phoenix.

No Amare, no Nash, no problem for the Suns, who received a whopping 45 points from O'Neal on an insanely efficient 20-25 shooting night from the floor.

Just to put that into perspective, it was the 37-year-old Shaq's first 40+ point effort in four years and his second-highest point total since March 2003.

But in the spirit of spreading good vibes, plenty of other Suns can feel warm and fuzzy this morning.

In another sort of bizzare LOST-like twist, 1999 Grant Hill showed up to score 14, dish out a season-high 12 assists, block a couple, steal a couple, posterize Andrea Bargnani and was undoubtedly jonesin' for some Mickey D's fries the whole time....

Factor in a 20 point/10 rebound/4 block performance from reserve Lou Amundson (???!!!) and 18/6/6 from fellow forward Matt Barnes and you start to get the sense that it might have been a bad night inside for the Raptors.

But try "outscored 90-36 in the paint" kinda bad and you can clearly see how this one was lost.

Toronto's frontline responds well offensively, with Marion (27 points, 11 boards), Bargnani (21 points) and Bosh (19 points, 10 rebounds) leading the way. But it was a familiar story for the Raps in this one. A string of made jumpers either brought this team back or put it slightly ahead, but stretches of missed j's followed by high-percentage plays inside from their opponent buried them in the long run.

I know the Suns are still a quality team sitting eight games over .500 in the West and scrapping for their playoff lives. But the Raptors are supposedly playing for something too and I expected a little better against a team without its two best players.

Silver lining? At least the Knicks, Bucks, Pacers and Bulls all lost last night but the voice of Jim Mora haunts me a little more with each Raptors defeat.

Still got a shot a winning trip but it doesn't get any easier against the Mavericks on Sunday followed by the red-hot Rockets on Tuesday.
